A Vision of the Future
And what is the future for mankind?
Rejecting Nature for the scientific mind
Probing and mixing 'til nothing is left
The earth lies bruised, broken, and bereft
Genetic engineering is common place
Secretly building the perfect race
Deformity is a criminal offence
Diversity impaled on a scientific fence
The eco systems are breaking down
The world is turning arid and brown
Lush green fields engineered to death
Rain forests gasp a last dying breath
But science is a mistress rarely sated
All extremes are contemplated
Going beyond the furthest pale
The human race is doomed to fail
The ancient Greeks on pottery
Painted a warning prophecy
A voice to man before it's too late
Never to open the forbidden gate
For when man crosses that sacred line
Mixing genes that could ne'er entwine
Minotaurs spring from the womb
And Centaurs dance on Nature's tomb
Humanity's fate is finally known
When dolphin genes mix with our own
We've greying skin and eyes that stare
Cerebral intelligence beyond compare
But enthusiasm for life has died
As the echoes of humanity cries
Diversity the soul shall seek
And Nature from her grave will peek
The 'Grays' must travel in search of genes
Down wormholes in their 'alien' machines
Back to where it furtively began
To Twentieth Century Homo Sapiens man
