“We now all stand as four;” Jeremiah continued, “communications have been made and all is well. I greet you my brothers.” The three other men bowed and said in unison, “We greet you all well brother.” Jeremiah looked at each man and asked them, “Do you still hold what is true in a safe place away from the eyes of the unworthy?”
They all said in turn, “I do Brother from the South. Is it your wish to see?”
“It is my right and my wish now the time is at hand. Show me.” They all reached under their seats and removed a black briefcase and placed it on their laps.
“Now as I reunite with you,” Timothy said, “I bring my piece of the word to reunite it with the whole.” Peter and Mark repeated the same, then they all stood adorned with white gloves and opened their cases. David’s eyes widened as they all removed the contents. Cautiously and gently, each of them held their piece of the ancient scroll in their hands.
“Gentlemen,” Jeremiah was now standing, “I believe the time is at hand. All the signs have shown themselves for the return of the One. It is only right and proper if we are all in agreement that the scroll must become whole in its entirety and presented to the One for truth to be revealed to him. However, if he is found not to be the one, we will cautiously depart and continue in our pursuit for as long as it takes. Are we all in agreement?”
“We are in agreement.” They handed their pieces of the scroll to Jeremiah, and David noticed Daniel’s eyes begin to swell with tears as he witnessed the coming together predicted by the ancient writings. For thousands of years, the pieces of scroll had passed from hand to hand, but never before now had they ever come together. He could hold his silence no more.
“Jeremiah, is it really true? Am I witnessing the great truth I have been reading about all my life? Please tell me it is so.” Jeremiah looked kindly at his faithful brother,
“My dear Daniel, it is the beginning of the truth. I assure you this part of the truth is true. Only when the One receives it will the whole truth be known to man.”
Daniel was now sobbing like a child. “I am so sorry for my emotional outburst, gentlemen,” Daniel spluttered. “I am a silly old fool.”
“Not at all,” Timothy replied, “we have known of this from our father’s fathers. You have been in darkness without knowledge of this. I can’t imagine how excited you feel right now.”
“David my brother, can you now see how important it is to us for Luther to remain in your house until we are ready to present him with the word?” Jeremiah was not looking at David as asked the question, but was carefully and cautiously placing all the four pieces of the scroll into his briefcase.
“Yes Jeremiah, I fully understand. I won’t let him out of my sight.”
“Good, I know, we can all count on you.” All four of them were looking at David, but this time he did not feel intimidated by their gaze. Instead, he felt a new feeling, one of courage and confidence.
“Daniel.” Jeremiah looked in Daniels’ direction.
“Yes, Jeremiah?” he answered, while wiping the remaining tears from his eyes
“Is it okay if Timothy and Mark stay with you until we’ll need to meet again?”
“It will be my pleasure and honour, Jeremiah.”
“Peter, you can stay with me at my house and share my hospitality. Is that okay with everyone?” Everyone nodded in agreement. “David, return home now to fulfil your duty. Remember don’t speak of this to anyone, not even to your wife, and especially not to Luther. We don’t want to confuse or frighten him off before we have chance to carry out our great work.”
“I promise Jeremiah, I will carry out the brotherhood’s wishes to the best of my ability. Take care gentlemen, until we meet again.” By turns, he shook all three of the men’s hands. Daniel stood to walk David to the front door. Daniel turned to David.
“Good luck, David, you must feel highly honoured with such a charge and to be in the presence of the One.”
“I do Daniel.” He held his head high and felt a great amount of pride within. “It is a great honour indeed. Take care brother.”
They embraced.
“Go on, go home before you have me in tears again.”
“Okay, take care Daniel.”
“Goodbye, David.” He closed the door behind him, and returned to the gathering.
“Can we rely on him Jeremiah?”
“Yes, I believe we can, Peter.” The four men watched David walk down the garden path. “The will of the Most High ensured that he was at the zoo when Luther first appeared. Now that is a great sign, and I am not going to question that or the will of the Most High. I believe our trust in him is not misplaced. He will do what he has to when the time is right.”
