Mystery At Bishop Perowne

"Where the wild roses grow, the sweet scent is carried across the
fields of battle..." the girl read.
"Katarina Web. I asked you specifically to read page 14!" The teacher
boomed at her.
"Sir, I am reading page... 15!" At that moment the class started
laughing.
A kid at the back said something hilarious and the class cracked up
again. Kat slowly sat down, hearing the laughter she couldn't bear any
longer. She had been at Bishop Perowne High School for less than three
weeks now and in those three weeks she hadn't made any friends. It had
always been the same ever since she could remember. Moving from town to
town, school to school. She had at least been to 20 schools and she
wasn't 13 yet. It had been harder ever since Grandpa had died and of
course there was her Mother's job. Kat had found it hard to make
friends, because she always knew that it would never last... All she
wanted was a nice young man to tell her feelings to. Fat chance of that
around here. Not if there was Tony about.
Tony was the School bully. Every school has one somewhere. Sometimes
it is the teachers and sometimes it is the biggest boy. This time it
was the big boy. He followed her everywhere...
"Brrrring Brrrring", the bell went, bringing Kat out of her
torture.
"Now that is all for today. Oh, and Katarina, try and read the right
page next time", teased Mr Boomer the teacher.
"Ah, I'm reading... um... um... page 15!" Mimicked Tony.
"That's not what I said and you know it. Now just leave me alone,
alright. I'm going home... and I don't want to be followed!" Kat
whirled around threatening Tony.
"Don't worry, I'm letting you off this time", Tony retorted
back.
Kat stood her ground. Standing there until she'd heard him walk away,
then she knew that she was alone to walk home.
She set off towards the street, checking every few times to see if he
was following her.
"I wish he wouldn't bully me. All I want is someone to talk to. I know
I should report him, but he'd get into trouble and go after me more",
Kat started talking to herself.
As Kat neared the alleyway she had to go down to get home, she felt
uneasy, as if someone was following her. Then she heard the noise. A
kind of "Vworp! Vworp!" Kat carried on, but as she neared the alley,
the noise seemed to stop... then she turned the corner of the alley...
and what she saw surprised her out of her mind. There standing right in
the middle of the alley stood an old looking, battered "Police Box".
Kat looked around to see if there was anybody about. The alley was
deserted. Then suddenly a young, handsome man walked out of the strange
object. Kat was startled. She didn't know what to say. Then the man
asked something.
"Excuse me, but do you know what year it is, please?" The man kindly
stated after clearing his throat.
"Who? ME! Yeh, sure it is 1997," She answered with a bit of
hesitation.
"Thank you. Oh, what school do you go to?" He asked another
question.
"Bishop Perowne High School. Who are you?" She retorted her answer
back to him.
"I think you should come with me. There's something I should tell
you", he looked alarmed. Who was this man? Kat had heard about men
asking girls to get into their cars, but into a "Police Box"?
He came towards her. Pleading, explaining why she had to go with him
into that thing.
"NO! LEAVE ME ALONE! PLEASE SOME..." Kat screamed out, trying to
attract someone's attention.
He'd put his hand over Kat's mouth. His hands felt warm and gentle. He
dragged Kat into the "Police Box". When he let go of her, what she saw
amazed her. A small, normal "Police Box" on the outside, but the inside
was a totally different story. It was as if Kat had walked into some
kind of futuristic space-ship that no one else had ever seen
before.
"NOW, are you going to tell me who you really are and what is this
place?" Kat demanded.
"I am known as the Doctor, and this is my TARDIS. Now we have got to
get to your school and fast. Lets see how you do "old girl"", the
strange, young man, known only as the Doctor. Who by dragging Kat into
his TARDIS had fascinated her.
"Aaaah! WOW! Your name is Doctor. Strange! What do you mean go back to
my school. What... s... g... g... oing... on!"
Suddenly the TARDIS started to shake, and Kat's words came in short
syllables. The Doctor started to twist and turn knobs on some console.
Then up on the screen above the Doctor's head flashed the words
"Temporal Orbit"!
"Doctor, what does "Temporal Orbit" mean?" Shouted Kat over the
shaking.
The Doctor muttered something about "evil coming to stay". She didn't
know what to do. Kat was beginning to think this was all weird. When
she noticed how handsome the Doctor was. Then all of a sudden as it
came, the shaking stopped.
"Ah, that's bett... er. Oh, no, "Temporal Orbit"", the Doctor suddenly
realised.
"Doctor, what's next, an alien coming in here!" Kat joked.
"Come on, we've got to go searching", the Doctor announced. Kat looked
confused.
"Oh, whatever, but you have to tell me what a "Temporal Orbit" is",
Kat bargaind with the Doctor.
"Now, a "Temporal Orbit" is when you enter another world similar to
your own, but time is stopped, literally. Ah, I believe the school
hall, Kat", the Doctor explained, using Kat's name for once.
"Yes, but how did you know my name?" Kat asked confused.
Then suddenly Mr Boomer came through the hall entrance, but this
wasn't Mr Boomer the teacher, this was Mr Boomer the zombie. He had
watched them come out of the TARDIS not recognising Kat. He slowly
lurched towards them, arms out stretched. He went for Kat, but just at
that moment the Doctor dragged Kat out of the way, just in time.
"Oooh, you just saved my neck from a beating. And how did you know my
name?" She asked again. The Doctor replied in a very confusing
answer.
"I knew your name because I read your soul. Which told me all I need
to know about you, so that's why I know your name, Katarina Web".
"Soul?", Kat thought with a troubled frown.
While the Doctor had been explaining they'd come to the science labs
from the hall. But these science labs weren't normal as they usually
were. An eerie light was coming from them.
"Ah, she is here. At last I face her". the Doctor exclaimed very
loudly making Kat jump.
"She? Who's she?" Kat asked bewildered.
"You'll see who Sky-Morgan is", the Doctor answered her.
They moved into the lab nearest them. Kat couldn't hold in her
exclaimed cry of what she saw. All the teachers and some pupils from
the school were wandering around like zombies. Then from behind Kat
felt strong arms on her pushing her forward towards a lady, dressed all
in blue. Kat turned around to see who her captor was. It was the school
caretaker. She'd seen him around. The Doctor on the other hand had been
left where he was standing. Out of the corner of her eye Kat saw Tony
chained to the wall, and he didn't look happy at all.
"Sky-Morgan at last we meet. You still trying to conquer the
universe!" The Doctor said.
"I see you have brought the girl. Such a sweet child at that. I have
the boy, I'd gladly bargain with you for her", the lady called
Sky-Morgan wickedly sounded like crystals tinkling in a Sunday
afternoon breeze.
Kat couldn't say anything back as the lady fingered her face. The
Doctor stood there as if searching for something in the now strange
lab.
"You may want children to work for you in the mines of your home
planet, but coming to Earth for them is digging too deep. You can't
keep this up", the Doctor declared.
"There is nothing that can defeat me, Doctor. Even you know that. Now
hand over the girl or the boy gets it!" Sky-Morgan laughed.
"NO, YOU CAN'T!" Kat shouted.
"So nice of you to care, Katarina. After all I've done to you!" Tony
mocked Kat.
Then with a quick flick of his hand, the Doctor leaned towards the
wall and hit a switch. Suddenly a scream came from Sky-Morgan as the
ceiling opened up to reveal a mass of dark swirling clouds. Everybody's
hair in the lab was flung back. Sky-Morgan fell to the floor in
agony!
"Quick, Kat get Tony out of here!" The Doctor ordered.
"But why? What has he ever done for me? Oh, I'll do it. Come on Tony",
Kat shouted at him while she released him.
The Doctor took hold of them and they hurried through the school back
towards the hall, to the TARDIS.
"So what now! It's like the whole World is going to crack!" Kat
joked.
"It is", the Doctor replied.
They got into the TARDIS and the Doctor set the controls to go back to
the normal world (for once!)

"Vworp! Vworp!" The sound of the TARDIS made.
They landed in the alley again.
"Doctor, what do we do now?" Kat quried.
"We do nothing. She has been defeated. You go back to your normal
lives. I go on my way", the Doctor had to say.
"Doctor, I'm going with you. I can't stay here, there is nothing for
me. You are the rescue I've always dreamed about!" Kat pleaded.
The Doctor said "Yes" reluctantly. They went into the TARDIS, but Tony
stayed behind for a normal life. Kat would have an exciting life with
the Doctor. No one knows what will happen next. Kat got her dream of a
young man. What will happen to them? With the mysterious Doctor... Who
no one knows?
