If this city was like this all year round
I'd never want to leave.
If the long shadows stayed forever
I'd stay until the end.
If people were always this happy
I'd smile at everyone.
If barbecues smelled like this every night
I'd never shut my window.
If I could hear reggae crossed with grime
Crossed with punk crossed with drum and bass
Crossed with laughing
Crossed with shouting
Crossed with singing,
I'd never need my headphones.
But seasons change
And so does this city.
I fear the deep set of winter
And the onset of misery.

This is very poignant. I
This is very poignant. I like it but 'maybe it's because I'm a Londoner'. :)
For me though, I think the last two lines may need a little work. I like the repetition of ‘set’ but I don’t know what ‘deep set’ is. How about sunset instead?
