Return to Paradise Lounge (IP)

I see you’ve returned
To visit Paradise Lounge
We’ve got some new ones in
But the regulars are still around
If you want a run down
I’ll join you in a gin
Come and sit beside me
And I can fill you in
The lady in the slinky dress
Still practices her diction
The rumour she got a film part
Turned out to be fiction
But you gotta hand it to her
She practices her art
After 20 years of trying
She never loses heart
You remember that couple
That were having an affair
They ran away together
Went to Buenos Aires
His wife turned up in Paradise
They had quite a row
She got wind of the affair
Though none of us know how
The postman at the bar
Has just started stopping by
His feet are always aching
But he seems a nice guy
I’ve heard to the ladies
He delivers more than mail
But that’s another story
And it’s not mine to tell
We have another new one
A wannabe comic
Thought the quality of his work
Makes me want to vomit
He thinks he’s so amusing
None of us think he’s funny
Once Croc got fed up
And locked him in the dunny
Yes, Old Croc is still at the bar
You know he runs things right
One thing you don’t do here
Is try to start a fight
Now, Croc is a good guy
But he won’t take any guff
You only have to look at him
To see he can be tough
The kinky accountant
No longer comes in much
He pops in once in a while
Just to keep in touch
He won’t say where he’s been
Or where it is he goes
If he’s still being kinky
I guess we’ll never know
Out at the curb
Zipper is still on the job
Says Paradise is good to him
He always earns a bob
So when the night is over
And home’s too far to walk
Zipper will drive you there
And amuse you with his talk
It’s about time to quit now
Though the evening’s not seemed long
I’ll close up the piano
After playing this last song
Once again it’s last call
The crowd is thinning out
They’ve enjoyed their bit of Paradise
Of that I have no doubt
