Time to Move On

I have struck you from my life
But it is an empty gesture
You left long ago
First in your thoughts
I could see they were far away
Soon you followed them
Symbolically I have removed you
I no longer speak your name
or go to shared places
Your pictures are gone
Any trace of you is vanished.
Now, how do I rid myself
of thoughts of you?
I want to scrub you from my mind
Delete the memories
I need a time machine
To go to pre-you times
Or a dalek to exterminate you
From my thoughts,
Perhaps I am on the right track now
I need to forgive myself
Re-find my sense of humour
Confine you to the
'Oh, boy was that a biga mistakea to makea' file
Shake my head, and with an ironic smile
Move on, take away your power
Place all memories of you
in a boat, set it alight
Send it out to float away forever.
Turn now, move on.

Know those feelings, all so
Know those feelings, all so well.
They have receded into the corners of my mind these days, but even there they can and do occasionally cause the wheels of this wagon to come off its tracks.
Forgiveness (not sure what the person concerned did to hurt you) for me maybe not forgiveness, but the need to no longer let them get to me.
The meaning/feeling behind your words are well described.
