First garden tremble 
on kiss soft paddy paws
to spine shake yawls
I held you, 
I hold you 
your father
 
You circle chased a squirrel,
roared with joy
on the night 
of the bat in the bedroom,
told us when the fox
caught your rabbit
and brought her a flagging flower
on Valentine’s Day. 
You put balled paper 
and bread chugs
into our shoes 
and face smacked me 
rage eyed
through the bannisters 
 
You and your supernal sisters 
my only
my only
our modern family 
 
We have watched
what passes for time
in this urban war
and now 
your ghost breath frame
frost slight 
unsubstantiated.
 
You cling to me
my indecipherable 
daughter 
we crumple
we will overflow into
peradventure  
providence
unbreakable 
embrace

Thank you. She was a rescue cat who has been with me since she was a kitten. She is an old lady now and a little piece of her is in my heart

I hope you have your old lady kitten for a while yet.  They do indeed stay in your heart, even when you can't see them any longer.

Thank you very much. I do feel the need to yowl for no reason because I have become lost  and confused. When this happens my dad picks me up, puts me on his lap and strokes my head. He tells me everything will be alright in the end. And when that happens I think in the end, it will be

Yesterday afternoon my baby cat - not very steady and confused about where she was yowled and wandered off into her little garden. She gave me such joy for so long. So, so much love

Oh darling, I know how much you adored your little Irie. May she play forever in your garden.

Perhaps it is a little comforting that this was picked as Poem of the Month, and to know that somehow, somewhere, Irie is very pleased for you!
