My Good Mood

My good mood
took the elevator down
ponytail losing perk
as the day went on.
Sometimes beauty is a burden
even if it’s mere illusion -
My powdered eyelids
well-cut top
weighing roughly a metric tonne.
I Do. Not. Want
To carry your expectations
like some mismatched bit of luggage
through a seedy terminal.
I am young and soft. Give me my summers.
Give me pulsing darks and neon days.
Let me be the stranger in the park.
Let me be the Asian on the platform.
Let me have my midnight escapades
Unmolested, unencumbered, unafraid.
