Bombs fall fast with a telltale whine,
closed, my mouth cannot speak
in their presence.
Cannot speak to my neighbours
cannot form words of truth in this hide.
Scramble our sacks of luck
to our backs and walk, walk,
walk through dust of past;
destruction.
Trees, shade, water, hope:
sculpted landscape
hands of ancients,
shaped all
memory, memory......
Blast,
rubble and gone.
Fatherland, Motherland, you betrayed us
we seek another land beyond a sea
that may claim us,
before usurers cut
of the waves.
