Draw closer, a global breeze whistles high notes
between layered weaves and hard pressed wool.
Textured and timbred by frost,
troubadors songs hang from leaves
that yet cling to their mothers evergreen
and ease a forest of ears,
stopped by waxing of ageless fears
hardened by a lonely year we won't forget.
Circle this light, catch warmth from embers,
widen your smile as we remember and start
at sharp crack of seasoned wood splitting
sides to yield a flame in this lengthened night.
We, lightly smoked and aged around this hearth,
raise a cup to distant stars and some on Earth
grateful for their glow.
