ALIEN

I am a sailor on the sea
A stranger in a foreign land
I have no place to call my own
No sovereign soil on which to stand –
Yet no-one gives a helping hand
As on I wander, far from home.
No kindred souls, just me, alone.
Save me Father, soothe me Mother;
Sister, hold me lest I drown;
Brother, take me o’er this water –
Lover, be there for me now.
I do not know this alien place
I cannot see beyond these hills.
I flounder wildly through these forests;
I look in vain to see the sky.
Help me God, or I shall weep -
Fall in the mud of treacherous marsh;
I wander aimlessly through life
I need direction and the will
To stand alone and fight my space.
Help me God, or I shall die.
