Good clerihew, Linda. Beeching decimated the railways in Devon. North Devon in particular suffered long-term economic damage.

Ah, East Grinstead.  One of the many romantic names I would hear on my commute between East Croydon and Victoria all those years ago, along with Sanderstead, Selsdon, Haywards Heath, change at Clapham Junction...  Some place names just have a magic.  cheeky

I live near East Croydon. At least I live near the tram terminus of the line through Eas Croydon, and not a bit romantic these days I assure you airyfairy!  Thanks for a nice comment!
