IT'S TOO LATE NOW

It’s too late now to say I’m sorry
For my neglect;
I should have seen there was a problem -
Our marriage wrecked;
I should have made the time for talking,
But was tired and stressed.
I wish I’d realised much sooner
How I was blessed.
I should have kissed you much more often –
But the baby cried.
I should have realised how badly
You hurt inside..
I should have held you, caressed and soothed you
But I’d forgotten how.
I should have told you how much I love you –
But it’s too late now.

A lot in there, very
A lot in there, very straightforwardly told, Linda. I especially appreciated the reference to the baby crying and distracting away from thoughts of husband's needs too. Rhiannon

That ending is so sad, and
That ending is so sad, and yes, it does ring bells. Lovely poem, Linda.

Hello Linda,
Hello Linda,
You haven't lost your touch I see. Very well expressed poem about something a lot of us can identify with.
