Just Another Soldier

He fights for no flag
He chooses to walk alone
with no one left to care for him
no one to welcome him home

He no longer has any companions
no one to call him friend
He fights to stay alive
until the war is at it's end

He's just another soldier
with another sad story to tell
but no one will listen
no one will wish him well

He's just another soldier
his enemies have no face
they fall in numbers high
by command of some higher race

He's just another soldier
the screeching whistle blows
Bang! Bang! he's over the top
to fight his unknown foes

Now he wanders the afterlife
battered from head to toe
no one knows he's gone
but everyone will know

That he's just another soldier
and now he's gone he'll lie
with all the other soldiers
who were brought from home to die.
