Don't Let The Floor Signs Cry Wolf

Mopping a floor is a lonely game.
No one’s there to hear you grumble.
But, I guarantee they’ll remember your name
if some unfortunate soul takes a tumble!
So, one should display caution signs in profusion,
keeping all sight-lines in mind.
Then, put them away to avoid all confusion
when the floor has thoroughly dried.
Don’t let the floor-signs cry wolf.
Go back by and secure them.
You can be sure, then,
there won’t be a mix-up or goof.
If there’s a sign when it’s dry,
people just wonder why.
Don’t let the floor-signs cry wolf.
After an hour or two,
those signs are a lie.
You’re not really through
until you’ve swung by.
Don’t want people to think,
‘Well, I’ve seen that before,”
step onto a wet patch,
and fall to the floor.
Don’t let the floor signs cry wolf.
Left there until morning,
they outlive their warning.
Be it on the ground-level or roof,
when they seem unneeded,
the signs go unheeded.
Don’t let the floor signs cry wolf.
If something occurs,
what a scene it will make.
They’ll come and find you
as you take your break.
They’ll have a say
about what transpired.
They’ll steal your Yoplait
and then you’ll be fired,
if you…
…let the floor signs cry wolf.
You can’t be a slacker,
though you may be knackered.
Don’t let the floor signs cry wolf.
One more thing to do,
then you’re really through.
Just don’t let the floor-signs cry wolf!

Remember being told to mop a floor for the first time and asking what I needed to do. They just walked off, which seems fair on reflection.
Enjoyed this, Lou.
