Best Friend

Though he's getting old
he still is active and fit,
We are always together
and we'll never split.
I take him to the park
for his daily exercise;
his affection is shown
in his watery eyes.
I hope our partnership
won't come to an end
because we dogs know:
man is our best friend.

Hi Luigi, I had no idea it
Hi Luigi, I had no idea it was international dogs day. Your poem shows the affection between dog and owner, such devotion is a wonderful thing.

Adroitly done, Luigi. I
Adroitly done, Luigi. I missed it being International Dog Day too. My collie cross is 16 years old these days so I can relate to the theme of the poem. He is very definitely my best friend. Enjoyed your poem, of course. Keep well. Paul

:0) I loved your poem, that
:0) I loved your poem, that it was about the dog, not the man, and also your comment about the paw prints. I have wondered about that, as well, having seen the same thing on a pavement

a story of africa
There is an old african folk story told by the dwindling flames and glowing embers. They say man and animals all lived in harmony. But there came a rift, a chasm between man and animals and it tore through the ground, between man and the animals but at the last moment the dog jumped the chasm to be with man and as his best friend.
My one friend said he wants to marry his dog but the problem is they don't live long enough just when start to really love it the dog dies. When they landed in the Congo for the UN and that his wife called she had put down all his dogs. Imagine that. Cold blooded.
Keep well Luigi & Nolan
