A Cold and Frosty Morning

Is it winter or spring?
It's hard to know;
my lawn is all white,
it looks like snow.
Also the pavements
appear to be icy
and to walk on them
could be very dicey.
On the other hand
it may just be frost,
so hope for a thaw
is not yet lost.
There is a hint
that the sun will shine;
with any luck
the day will be fine.
A big flowerpot
comes into focus
and I see three tulips
and a single crocus
Although the weather
is not compliant
the flowers remain
decidedly defiant.
I can hear the birds
who happily sing
to assure me
that it is spring.

Hi Luigi,
Hi Luigi,
you capture the weather at the moment perfectly. I have to admit that I find this weather invigorating and great for taking a walk in the woods. It's so peaceful and quiet with hardly anyone around apart from the odd dog walkers, because its so cold. But like the flowers, we will survive to see the warmth back very soon.
Very much enjoyed reading your poem and the tulips too. We saw some cowslips while out walking in the woods yesterday, there were loads of them, and I haven't seen any for years.
Take care.
Jenny. xx
