A Fat Lot of Good

School's out for the summer, hurrah.
I'll play football with my mates all day
or go fishing with my dearest papà.

To mathematics I shall give the boot.
For a few months I intend to ignore
fractions, equations and square root.

And history is going to be..... history,
a subject that belongs to the past.
That I hate it so much is no mystery.

It is obvious that I am not academic;
when I say the whole syllabus stinks
teachers assert that I am pathetic.

I'm fat and lazy, am like Billy Bunter.
Having no skills, I won't be recruited
by any employers or a headhunter.

Nevertheless I could earn a packet
by playing sport. I'm good at snooker
and quite nimble with a tennis racket.

I would not miss my present teacher
should my school be closed for good:
why not make it a permanent feature?
