Intimacy is what I seek in a relationship
Not marriage, after a long engagement,
That can be an albatross round my neck.
Realising that liaisons can cause hardship,
I will show indifference and detachment
Content at times to keep my lust in check.
After all, intricacy can ruin a friendship
Causing jealousies, hate and resentment.
Yet I’ll keep up the chase, what the heck!

Delighted you approve, Lynne. As you can see it is an acrostic poem with an ABC rhyming pattern. Once you know the technique, these kind of poems are not all that difficult. Grazie e ciao. Luigi x

nice game with words, Luigi. And you dished up a truth. Why the heck people do marry? I never liked weddings as they always seem to dissolve so easily. At least, that's what I experienced in a long life.... Yutka:)

Hello Yutka. I am grateful to you for reading and commenting. Have I touched a raw nerve by mentioning marriage? I admit that getting wed might be a bit of a gamble. Personally I haven't experienced any upheaval on that front but I have witnessed a few relationships breaking down. Luigi x

Weddings? They represent the eternal optimism of the human race. And, as a guest, the free booze and food is always nice. It may well be simply an excuse to gather old friends together and get presents out of them! J x

Hi again, Jen. I agree that getting hitched represents the height of optimism. I must be the epitome of optimism as I have been married nigh on 43 years. Quite a marathon, don't you think? It is also true that a wedding could be seen only as a social occasion but it needn't be as long as people don't rush headlong into disastrous relationships. Lx

Dear Rebecca, thanks for your encouraging words. This cherry was unexpected although I always try my best in the hope of getting one. The funny thing is that the poems I think are 'cherryable' don't get picked and viceversa. Still, it is fun trying. Luigi xxx
