A Man of Substance

He lived frugally
but was not a miser;
he really believed
that he was quite well off
as he had invested
money in an ISA.
He was regarded
as a proper toff
because he wore suits
from Savile Row.
But he found them
in charity shops
- a fact that folk
couldn’t possibly know.
To get those garments
he pulled out all the stops.
Being a pensioner
he had a heating allowance
and that made him
a man of substance.
He was the source
of the taxman’s grievance
the reason being
his tax avoidance.

Nice neat form again. So easy
Nice neat form again. So easy to think people who are coping and keeping neat, not slipping into big problems are rich, odd sort of jealous complaining. Inverted snobbery? Rhiannon
