I am not accustomed
to public speaking
yet I cannot resist
the constant temptation
of demonstrating
my declamation.
I'm unable to memorise
what I have written
and have to rely
on my ability to extemporise.
To deliver my latest creation,
there's no need for agitation.
After all, it's only Zoom;
everybody is in their own room.
It is a remote audience,
and not a physical presence.
Why worry? It'll be a breeze,
that is, unless you freeze.
That's what happened
each time I tried.
I lost my bearings
and was tongue-tied.
It is not unusual
and almost a ritual.
What should I do?
Either improve my diction
or realise that my oratory
is a work of fiction
and to give up elocution
is the only solution.

Oh. Luigi it was lovely to hear and see you! Actually Mark put up a link to your poem. Maybe that could be done regularly, I know my hearing doesn't seem sharp enough to catch stories when they're being read quite quickly, and it would be a help! Rhiannon
