Speed Bumps

One day you’ll be old
and the Seat Belt and
fog-come-steam will matter first.
You’ll wait for the click
Before you start;
set off at a steady pace,
take the turns with caution
and be sure to keep to Forty.
One day I’ll still be younger
and sigh,
I miss your recklessness,
Inflate and Deflate
as you go up and down the
sleeping policemen.
The buzz that I’ll be missing
will wave from afar to you.
But in the meanwhile
lets make it fifty,
stretch a smile
better than thirty.
Seat belts when we hit it.
Eighty mile speed limit.
Knocking lips over the speed bump.
Adrenaline up there.
Speed right with it.
Car unstable
- we don’t care.
Just too young, and
it
ain’t
legit..
