12. Scars

I look at my arm
See the scars ingrained
From love and friends lost
From emotional pain
And this is the cost
I dream about you
Fresh, every night
I listen to our song
It hurts just right
For you, I long
I can't leave this world
Not with knowledge of Him
I know I have His love
The walls are still closed in
But I know He's watching above
So, I think,
Looking at my scars
You're not worth losing God
Now I look up at the stars
and know that I was wrong
I do have something to say
I have to ask, do you remember?
Do you think about us, like me?
Do you regret saying forever
Do you think about that movie?
I think about us frequently
Almost twenty four/seven
But no longer does it hurt
I have accepted and forgiven
And am over my heart's quirk
What I can't stand
Is you only stopped the bleeding
But the scars will always be
God stopped the burning feeling
And you almost stopped me.
