Objects travel in a parallel reality

I
Where did I put my stupid earbuds
I swear they were just here
I looked inside my backpack
I looked in all my jackets
I looked inside the fridge
Still not a sign of them
Is this the onset of dementia?
No, please, I'm way too young
Am I going to make headlines
For leaving my child in the car?
II
I found my earbuds
In a bag
Where I had looked about half a dozen times
Is this sorcery
Did they just teleport
To laugh at me
The naughty pieces of plastic
Now on to look
For my husband's shorts
Is my parents' house eating our stuff?
III
My husband's shorts
Were not at my parents'
He found them in our wardrobe
How are we going to survive
Without one memory between us?

That perennial dilemma
A nice one. As I say: when an older person mislays they think they're getting dementia; but when it's a younger person they just think they have forgoten where it was.
