Dream A Little Dream

Wake up, wake up the seagulls scream
Wake up, wake up, you’re in a dream
And with a start I think I do
I check to see if it is true…
Wake up, wake up the seagulls scream
Wake up, wake up, you’re in a dream
I realise then with a silent roar
My dream is deeper than before
Somewhere upon the very edge
I fell back to the safety ledge
The seagulls screams less urgent now
I try to climb but don’t know how
The haunting beauty of the dream
Bids me leave things as they seem
Birds serenade with woodland song
I try my best to sing along.
Trees drop blossom on my head
Joy and wonder rush ahead
Eyes uncovered secrets seen
Impossible detail signs the scene
Shadows gone there is only light
Sunshine makes my whole world bright
The air is perfumed, thought is dead
Feelings fly where thoughts once tread
Joy and wonder dance around
In ecstasy with the beauty found
“Thank you“. “Thank you!” is all they say
I feel their love… it’s how they pray.
For an endless time it seems
There is no one to think of dreams
Just trees that tower, streams that laugh
Creatures playing on the path
I AM! I think, this is ALL me.
I AM everything I see…
Thought is back and I lose the tune.
Not to worry it’ll be back soon.
Wake up, wake up the seagulls scream
Wake up, wake up, you’re in a dream
I smile and leave the leafy glen
Tomorrow… maybe back again.
I’ll wake up someday, maybe soon.
To find myself? Upon the moon?
Who knows? Who cares? The question is
Whose dream is this? Is it HIS?
