Harbour wife’s sunset
son's sea burial—overboard
dead—fish-blood and guts
.....................
Through a buss window
that last poppy stands protesting
snow will never come!
.....................
“Love—can it be thawed?
a frozen—isolated
footprint” big as the moon
.....................
With the weight of winter
the last white feather quietly coolly falls
—Niagara burials
.....................
A summer ice-cream
a high-street—winter coat-sale
the beginnings of spring
.....................
Pigeons circumvent
the wind and clouds ledge together
in grey—brotherhood
.....................
Hedgehog crushed—
these brown chestnut kernels prick
quite empty and fruitless
