Cancelled Comics?

We never would have got the joke

If childrens’ comics had been ‘woked’

Back in our rose-tinted childhood days

When being old was far away.

Dennis was a menace,

Beryl was a peril,

Roger was a dodger,

Lord Snooty, an earl

Kate looked in keyholes,

 Minnie was a minx

Weren't the Bash Street Kids

 always up to high jinks.

Dan was always desperate,

eating his ‘cow pie‘

Oor Wullie , he was mischievous

he never telt a lie.

It often makes me wonder,

I think of this in rhyme

Would they be correct politically

or cancelled for these times?

( I was reminiscing the other day about the comics I read as a child in the '70s, and this set me writing this one!)
