I Exit The Night

Aberdeen, your streets are empty and dark
And hey my poetry mojo’s back!
Your floodlit buildings look majestic and bright,
As I walk home from an open mic night
It’s a cold one, tonight and its getting colder
I’m still spritely, but a wee bit older
More coherent since I cut back the drink
The words come better, at least so I think
A million times better than back in the day,
That tired old catchphrase that I used to say
I think of a few lines out on the way home,
Perhaps my musing will produce me a poem,
Once in my garret I switch on the light,
Open my door and exit the night.
