Dark road riding in the fast lane

Swishing spray from wheelrims spin

 

Blinking bikelamps light the way

Cars roar past , blurring , fast.

 

Wheels in motion, brakeblocks strain,

Wet fleeced and denim dampened

 

Wet leaves blowing , Autumn’s ochres,

Gutters gleam with streetlit rain.

the use of consonant alliteration makes the scene more vivid eg denim dampened,, Blinking bikelamps, Swishing spray, and  Gutters gleam with streetlit rain where the near-rhyme helps too. Rhiannon

I loved the sounds and rhythm running all through, as in

"Swishing spray from wheelrims spin"

and the satisfaction of the last rhyme
