The Letter. Part Three.

Today, during my break at work I went to the post office.
I gave her the letter and said, “I’d like to post this, first class, registered post, please.”
She said, “What is in it?” I said, “Just a letter,” She added, “Any vouchers or money inside?” I said, “No, just a letter.”
She gave it back to me and said, “Can you put it on the scales?” I did, while she got that thing to make sure it went into the letter slot! That thing that they invented years ago, to get even more money out of you; for if it is thicker that the letter slot, it means more money to pay! They are SO Greedy, can’t make enough money!
It was weighed and she put it through the letter slot. What difference did it mean to her, or the Post Office, if I did put money in it or a voucher, they are not paying for the extra weight of a fiver or a £20 note!
Originally, I had decided to leave my purse at home and just bring the £2.50 to pay for it, but I remembered that I needed to buy washing up liquid today after work, so I put my purse with my bank card in my work bag.
She said, “That will be £3.05,” I said, “That will be going all over social media.” She replied, “I agree, it is expensive.”
I don’t know how the very greedy post office stays open!
Three pounds five, to post a letter! I remember years ago, when I did eBay, that would be the price of a parcel, first class, registered post!
By the time my young grandson is 21, the same letter, first class, registered post will cost £15.99!
