Follow the yellow car

"Follow that yellow car" I shout to the taxi driver

and he steps on it

probably thinking 'Finally I get to follow something.

I've never done a car chase before. This is why

I got into this business.'

He'd been outside the exhibition hall for over an hour

not doing much, just listening to the radio,

thinking about maybe opening the sandwiches his daughter

had made him and when the car passed him he said outloud

'That yellow car's in a bit of a rush' and he checked his phone for texts

and remembered he hadn't replied to his private tutor

who'd messaged him last night asking if Tuesday morning at 11 was okay

so he texted back saying, 'yes, fine by me' and thought

'that's actually pretty good because on Monday evening

I can get stuck into my books,

that new one is still in its Amazon packaging

and then the passenger door opened.
