Mother of a future race

the world is crying out

hear us knocking upon the door .

 

Mother of a future race

help us to care for each other

and put an end to war.

 

Mother of a future race

all the wars that have been

are about killing enemies

 

Mother of a future race

now is the time to start putting

our troubled minds at ease.

 

Mother of a future race

a future race needs

 to begin to live in peace today

 

Mother of a future race

gather pioneers  to begin

to find a peaceful way          

 

Mother of a future race

 lead the way to a brighter day

for now its time to try .

 

Mother of a future race

 stop the wars so a future race

won’t need  to ask us why  .

 

Mother of a future race

bring together nations in conflict

to talk face to face .

 

Mother of a future race

heal the hurt and make it work

for the future human race

.

I thought this so very apt, as we are now marking the 20th anniversary of the Blair/Bush war on Iraq, and all the suffering that followed from that. A timely poem - wel said Paul.
