Prisoner Of The Mind - By Paul McCann
.
The prisoner of the mind , doing time in a cell ,
Some days he says living is five footsteps from hell .
No where to run or hide , locked up on the inside .
Unable to walk , no matter how hard he tried .
He’s too young to be left there with all of the old .
his memories are there
his stories have been told .
he never belonged .
He never did any wrong .
He’s accepted that he’s a prisoner of the mind
He’s locked up in a room where life has been unkind .
Sometimes it’s like the life that he had once has died
No one knows what it’s like locked up on the inside .
Is anybody there ?
Does anybody care ?
All of his thoughts and his dreams are going no where .
He gets so frustrated and there’s no peace of mind ,
He has punished himself but he has done no crime .
The unfortunate few that this has happened to
have somehow accepted the things they cannot do .
Sentenced for life ,
it’s seems unfair and so unkind .
At the end of the line the prisoner of the mind ,
gets up again and he tries to walk but he falls
and then he cries as he starts to climb up the walls ,
it’s a hard place to be but he cannot be free .
The prisoner of the mind not many ever see .
