The old guitar stood in silence waiting to be strummed

Like a beggar on a corner that the world had shunned.

The harmonics had no key and the tone was long gone

Alone in the silence like a monument years on  .

Once hands had held the neck and body of the guitar

how they longed once more again to return from afar .
