you are an orange.
or perhaps a bust,carved,
in soft marble
a statue with veins
cast in flesh coloured plaster
melting into the ochre backdrop
on a chiaroscuro stage
and look,
you are so complicated
however much they gaze
squint, stare, in the most unabashed way,
they cannot translate
the shadows in you're knees
and shaking silent stillness
of you're tender marble limbs
aren't you complicated,
perplexing little orange
on chiaroscuro stage

Very nice poem. A tiny typo
Very nice poem. A tiny typo to correct I think:
"of you're (your) tender marble limbs".
I love the ambiguity, it's not distracting as if it is ambiguous for the sake of it but in a way that causes further searching reads.
