the chequered floor they walk across

beneath the red bannered sky

nearing destinations

as only passers by

they pass under the arch

all suited,pressed with starch

who are they

where are they going to

is there anyone waiting at home for them

when their long day is through

do they feel happy with what they've got

are they wishing for something more

something or someone to come along

opening up a new door
