The Fragrant PA

She glides down the corridors in fresh linen,
Smiling at everyone, it seems.
She floats like the silk scarf,
Pink and a little floral,
That adorns her neck.
She could win awards for
“Nicest person in the office”;
On the phone her manner is always
Polite; helpful; charming; nice.
The Managing Director thinks she’s
A godsend.
No one uses the word “angel”, but
They think it.
In winter the pinstripes etch
The pattern of her figure in the room.
Men wonder what it would be like. . .

She always has the documents on time,
No mistakes, no mis-filing.
Meetings perfectly co-ordinated
Like her clothes.
The organization of her desk is
As flawless as her hair and make-up.
The office junior would do
Anything for her.
Everyone agrees that she is lovely.
But she is
No Fun.
