THE BABY'S RATTLE

the baby has a rattle
and that plaything's such a hit
that babe gets so much pleasure
when he rattles it a bit

you'd think it might get boring
but that's clearly not the case
no, you can plainly see
the pure excitement on his face

because he's just a baby
there's no place he needs to go
so he just sit and waves
his little rattle to and fro

it sounds just like percussion
in a merry sort of way
it's soft and filled with rhythm
baby's head begins to sway

the baby sticks his tongue out
and he thinks, "for goodness sake
i can't wait for the day
when i will be a grown up snake"
