BRIDE OF PINOCCHIO

we've all heard of pinocchio
a movie disney sold
but here, my friend, you'll hear the end
a story, seldom told

oh sure, the puppet turned to flesh
and all were overjoyed
but after that, things turned quite flat
gepetto was annoyed

he said "now look, pinocchio...
i'm glad you are my son...
but its no lie, before i die...
a grandchild would be fun"

the youngster wasn't big on girls
to him, they seemed absurd
the lack of lust from fairy dust
most likely had occurred

but yet he loved gepetto so
he'd do just what he should
plus jiminy, repeatedly
demanded he be good

and do he told his dear old dad
he'd gladly take a wife
and greatly pleased, gepetto seized
his favorite carving knife

he said "i have some rosewood, fine...
so rose shall be her name"
the whole night through, the wood chips flew
creating him a flame

gepetto roused pinocchio
his eyelids slowly pried
"my job is done, so wake up, son...
its time to meet your bride

pinocchio climbed out of bed
no breakfast, so quite starved
but dad was amped to be a gramp
and proud of what he'd carved

he had to say she looked alright
his father had done good
all violin shaped with long hair draped
against her back of wood

gepetto introduced the pair
together, he did shove
as days went on, they got along
so well, they fell in love

the cricket interjected then
"afraid i say no dice...
for he's a boy and she's a toy...
no marriage, my advice"

gepetto felt a sudden pang
his goal unrealized
cause sonny dug this little bug
his conscience was his guide

he called upon the fairy, blue
who'd changed his little boy
and asked her nice, if she'd suffice
to be in his employ

"for doing things quite magical...
i do possess the tools...
but wood to skin ?....no not again...
that breaks the union's rules"

pinocchio stepped up to her
and asked her if he could
go back to pine like days behind
and wed his lass of wood

the fairy said that could be done
twas quite the easy chore
she surely could change flesh to wood
and make him like before

"but they cannot have children, now"
the old man loudly cried
"don't be so dumb, just whittle some"
the fairy then replied

and so she changed pinocchio
to puppet made of pine
then it was said they could be wed
the cricket didn't mind

the marriage was a grand event
a merry escapade
and jiminy ? ... the best man, he
the fairy ? ... honored maid

the night they had their honeymoon
poor rose was so surprised
advised the squire, the job required
a dowel of bigger size

so dad retooled pinocchio
so handy at his craft
the wife in need and groom agreed
dad'd carved a perfect shaft

gepetto made some tots from wood
a new one every year
both girls and boys, such lovely toys
they filled him full of cheer

and that's the ending of the tale
at last you finally know
what brought true joy to this dear boy
