THE CLOUDS CONSUMED THE MOON

the beasts all cower shyly
for they feel an eerie rift
the world is tilting slyly
in an atmospheric shift
the angels must be sleeping
and the devil's coming soon
the die is cast
it seems at last
the clouds consumed the moon
all eyes retract in tension
from the darkening of night
the mask of apprehension
has delivered them from sight
the sage has thoughts suspended
and the piper stills his tune
the end of dreams
or so it seems
the clouds consumed the moon
God's creatures, once evolving
are now orphans forced to roam
the walls begin dissolving
in the place they knew as home
the newly born discover
they are trapped in their cocoon
there is no light
for on this night
the clouds consumed the moon
