HERE, THERE BE DRAGONS
By moonphish
- 1575 reads
when the ancients sought direction
and their maps were drafted out
they inked "here, there be dragons"
in the areas of doubt
i don't believe those sailors
who had nerve to sail the sea
had ever seen a dragon
out in their periphery
twas just imagination
and the fear of the unknown
and into their cartography
these images were sewn
the mind is like map, it's said
with many seas and isles
and lifetimes are a journey
that will cover many miles
there's places in our psyche
that we might just fear to tread
where non-existent creatures
may be lurking in our head
we think, "here, there be dragons"
and it fills us full of fear
but if we were to face them
they would simply disappear
so have a little courage
do not fall into the trap
of forging needless dragons
in your mind's perplexing map
