ISLE OF AUDRA

oh once, i was a sailor
but i sailed so recklessly
that i found myself in peril
on a deadly surging sea
my craft was smashed asunder
underwater i did flail
with no one there to hear me
as i screamed my helpless wail
i found a piece of timber
and upon it i did crawl
my body limp and useless
as a child's abandoned doll
i drifted into blackness
and was carried far away
when my eyes finally opened
i could see a distant bay
towards a splendid hidden island
by blind luck i had been led
and i knew it was a miracle
that i hadn't wound up dead
i struggled to my feet at last
upon the golden shore
the scenery so beautiful
like none i'd seen before
the trees provided nourishment
i found a running spring
i'd finally found my home at last
and its praises i now sing
i'm a sailor who was marked for death
out of breath, i found rebirth
on the lovely Isle of Audra
it's the sweetest place on earth
