in april, without warning
you may spy a tiny sprig
a little cluster peeking out
in hopes of growing big
.
a vision so magnificent
enough to make one cry
jacarandas crowned with rainbows
like a chapel in the sky
.
in may, there's jubilation
with the sunlight shining through
its fingers are such teasers
playing games of peek-a-boo
.
a headdress formed of amethyst
with sapphires laced between
jacarandas robed in violet
like a soft bewitching queen
.
in june, the reign of lavender
is coming to a close
the boughs begin to bow their heads
and slide into repose
.
the summer's running rampant
and the branches are laid bare
jacaranda blossoms falling
swirling petals fill the air
