we see in three dimensions
and we live in three as well
how odd to be suspended
in a world that wouldn't swell
.
most people crave a landscape
that is bulbous, warm and fat
but in Mercator City
everything you see looks flat
.
we drink so we can hydrate
but for pleasure, even more
how odd to have a sky so low
we'd never dare to soar
.
most people crave a liquor
that will charm right off the bat
but in Mercator City
everything you sip tastes flat
.
we love the pulse of music
with a free unhurried pace
how odd to live in silence
like the void of outer space
.
most people crave their music
have their favorite songs down pat
but in Mercator City
everything you hear sounds flat
