Let me bring up something
That is certain to confuse
We've all heard the expression
We must mind our Ps and Qs
It means to watch your manners
But what's the deal with P and Q ?
I'll give you some suggestions
Then I'll leave the rest to you
Some say its please and thank yous
Since the "YOUS" will rhyme with Qs
People find you quite polite
When these two terms are used
Printers in the olden days
Would set their type by hand
The Ps and Qs looked quite alike
Reversed, sometimes they'd land
Some say it stands for pints and quarts
When tending in a bar
One must make sure there is no theft
To keep things up to par
Perhaps its "Peace and Quiet"
Sometimes that is hard to find
I think I'm done with Ps and Qs
Before i lose my mind

Oh, clever and neat and fun
Oh, clever and neat and fun again!
I think I've always thought vaguely that Q just comes from the sound of 'Than-qu'! but not so sure now! Rhiannon

That was great, I didn't know
That was great, I didn't know about the printing thing, or pints and quarts, am sure I will remember though because of your wonderful rhyme, thankyou
