a hippie type commune
where social standards took a seat
while nature called the tune
.
we both derived from families
bohemian in style
the first time that i saw you ?
just a necklace and a smile
.
we shared first kisses, soft and meek
experiments in love
while sitting in the shade of trees
beneath the clouds above
.
a lovely song of innocence
that nothing could defile
you radiated beauty
just a necklace and a smile
.
i knew you were the only thing
i'd ever need in life
i asked you if you'd marry me
you said you'd be my wife
.
all the members of the commune
watched you walking down the aisle
no wedding dress was needed
just a necklace and a smile
.
that wedding celebration
was among the very best
oh what a great beginning
for a pair to start their quest
.
at last, alone together
and i thought i'd lose my mind
you stood before me smiling
with your necklace left behind
