PIGEONHOLES

just pigeons should have pigeonholes
i've often heard it said
a toast to people who will strive
to be more than white bread
.
a person, fourth dimensional
a seven sided die
an IQ most peculiar
a third and probing eye
.
the stars that twinkle down at us
look like a little dot
but if they ruled our planet
they would roar with blazes, hot
.
a pigeonhole is something
we might find beneath a tail
or a simple wooden cubicle
in which to find our mail
.
a person's more important 
to be found in one of those
but yet we try to fit them in
our nature, i suppose
.
a popular delusion
is that ostriches will dig
a hole down in the sand
where they will thrust their heads, so big
.
it seems you never hear
that someone might be ostrich holed
but it occurs to me
that many people fit that mold
.
if i could be a bird
i never, in a hole, would lie
i'd stretch God given wings
and i would climb into the sky
