he worked hard for the railroad
no, he never missed a day
but he never really liked the job
although he made good pay
.
he did enjoy the rhythms
as they roared around the track
the horn that would start singing
as the rails would click and clack
.
it sounded like a symphony
he formed one in his mind
and with some spit and polish
over time, it was refined
.
his dream had been to step
before an orchestra so grand
all poised in a tuxedo
with baton raised in his hand
.
tonight, he made his debut
what a wondrous thing to see
no longer a conductor
a conductor, now, was he

Enjoyed that! Somehow I could just feel those railroad sounds becoming a piece of music. My son, who composes did a little piece recently based on the sounds on a London street, which I used to do a little verse for the London competition on here in the summer.
