SEVEN MILES AN HOUR

seven miles an hour
is the speed of drops of rain
but tear drops are much slower
for they're weighted down with pain
.
it's said it's always raining
somewhere on this planet earth
and people don't stop crying
from the instant of their birth
.
tears form from blackened storm clouds
and then rise up like the tide
the taste of tears is bitter
as a drop of cyanide
.
seven miles an hour
doesn't really seem so fast
it seems it's raining harder
when the skies are overcast
.
who thought to even time them
as they floated down from space
to join the tears we're shedding
down the surface of our face
.
but looks can be deceiving
not as bad as it appears
for you will never notice
any weight in happy tears
