SHADOWS

shawn and sharon, although carin'
they were not romantic
cause it was fun to be just chums
their friendship was gigantic
one day munchin' at a luncheon
breakin' bread and laughin'
upon the wall, behind their stall
they noticed something bafflin'
shawn and sharon sat there starin'
so uncomprehendin'
for as they stared, their shadows shared
a kiss, quite neverendin'
but once observed, their shadows swerved
back to their prior location
then sharon spat, "did you see that ?"
shawn nodded validation
shadows, cravin' but behavin'
stayed in same positions
sharon spoke and made a joke
"perhaps we need opticians"
indecision 'bout this vision
left them both just shruggin'
but deep inside, what they had spied
was on their psyches, tuggin'
in their repast, when light was cast
each looked behind their shoulders
but not a trace of some embrace
or something maybe bolder
as time went on, these thoughts were gone
twas just hallucinations
once overtaxed, they now relaxed
and eased their concentration
and then one night by fireplace light
they sensed a violation
and then they caught their shadows locked
in madcap osculation
and then they knew it must be true
and cause for jubilation
their bond had grown until full blown
a wondrous adoration
shawn and sharon, love declarin'
wedded now you'll find them
and down the aisle their shadows smiled
and marched right down behind them
